Well the second last day of the competition, and a nice relaxed start to the day, taking team photos chilling and chatting to the surfers. Typical, I could only manage to arrange 2 teams to pose for the cameras, The French and Puerto Ricans
Hopefully I can get all the other teams tomorrow? Once that is done I will post all the teams photos.
The schedule for today was Tag races and the expression surfing, followed by the last qualifying heats.
But the swell was against them, very very small.
The place was packed with onlookers and a real party atmosphere was in the air.
Shame the elements couldn’t be as enthusiastic as we all were. Still there is rumoured a big swell is due to arrive some time this afternoon ready for the final tomorrow.
So, my long suffering readers, another day in paradise with nothing to do but sit on the beach and do a spot of swimming.
I have to say a SPECIAL thank you to a person, whom without his help, we probably would never have made it here. Nelson. On hearing we had no hotel to stay at the first night, he drove from San Juan to Rincon and put us up in his house for the night. the drive is a 3 hour one, and he was an absolute star. He even showed us where the local breaks were and constantly pops round to make sure all is well. A great guy, and many thanks from all the team, Thanks Nelson.
Incidentally Nelson runs amigos tours, which specialise in customised tours in and around Puerto Rico. So if any of you adventurers want to visit this wonderful place, be sure to check out his website, he may have just the right tour for you. www.amigospuertorico.com
At this moment I am sat in the hotel room, listening to the waves lap against the shore, wearing just my baggies and not thinking about the freezing cold conditions that await our return in a few days.
We are not looking forward to the long journey home, 26 or so hours of Planes Trains and Automobiles! Maybe they should use that for a film title? Nah, it wouldn’t work
Take care everyone, more to come tomorrow, and here are a few more photos from the action here in Rincon

hi Kevin just a quickie as we are off to church, the photos are still as good as
ever, glad to hear that everyone is enjoying the last few days, and that the surf
is hopefully going to make for a terrific final. We respect and admire all the
surfers for their courage and tenacity hanging onto that little piece of fibre
in the most uncompromising positions they seem to be stuck to their boards.
I love the sea and swimming, but surfing no way. GOOD LUCK to all and we
mean all that are into the world finals. You are all stars.
