We arrived at Gatwick with hours to spare, whisked through the terminal at lightening speed, thanks to the British Airport staff who were more than helpful
We were thinking this was going to be a breeze, but we hadn’t banked on the social and technical ineptitude of the Continental Airline Staff.
The process of arranging the competition was done with meticulous care to ensure we had everything covered.
The Surfers, the flights, the outsize surfboards, even the cameras were all explained to Continental Airlines and at the time of booking they assured us of a trouble and hassle free trip. We were pleased! Till we met the one Miss Rollins!
Her skills in dealing with the passengers can only be described as uncooperative and authoritarian
“We have no record of your request to fly Surfboards on this flight” Strange that, since we are the British Masters Surfing Team? What do they use in America then? Corks?
We asked around and told them that when we booked we had stated the amount of boards to be shipped in the hold. “No, No Way, you must be joking” “But we are the British Masters Surfing Team” the not so nice Miss Rollins said to her collegue“They are only British, we are Americans” one member of staff said that even if the booking department cleared the mess up with the booking centre the Jobsworth Stephanie Rollins was still going to charge the guys £50 each to ship the boards, “Because I can” Miss Rollins said!
Well Continental Airlines, we shan’t be using you lot again, and I hope a few other passengers think twice before using this Fascist Continental Airline, American indeed? Who bloody populated your country in the first place, ungrateful b@stards.
When we arrive at Puerto Ricon we were unexpectedly met by a local band and a splendid welcoming committee, who greeted us very well indeed, making sure our baggage arrived safely and was transported to waiting busses. It was a great relief after the dismal performance of Continental Airlines (Who we wont mention again, the b@st@rds).
The Puerto Rico Tourist board pulled out all the stops for us, and our spirits were lifted by them, many thanks to all who were there to greet us.
Off to get somke well earned sleep, 26 hours without sleep is not good
